Mass campaign to call on Torontonians to speak out against higher fares, increased wait times and pollution and greater safety risks
TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - October 21, 2013 On Tuesday, the Toronto Taxi Alliance (TTA) will launch a campaign to educate Torontonians about what's at stake for taxi users in Toronto if a series of proposed taxi reforms are passed by Toronto City Council next month. Media are invited to attend the launch press conference.
Taxicab Industry Review, which is being conducted by City of Toronto Staff features 44 reforms including: a mandate to make 100 per cent of taxis wheelchair accessible by 2025, the introduction of a new Vehicle Identity Technology (VIT) and the introduction of a new owner-operated plate called the Toronto Taxi License (TTL). The Final Report with recommendations for the taxicab industry is expected to be presented to City Council in November.
