A Special Tribute In Commemoration Of The 50th Anniversary Of The "I Have A Dream" Speech
TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will speak at the Planet Africa Awards on Saturday, November 2nd 2013. The legacy of Dr. King will be recognized with the Legend Award, to be received by his daughter Bernice, Chief Executive Officer of the King Centre in Atlanta, USA.
2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the March On Washington, where the historic "I Have a Dream" speech was delivered. The 10th annual Planet Africa Awards gala will mark this milestone with a red carpet gala from 6.00 PM at the International Centre in Toronto, Canada. The theme is "Celebrating The Dream".
One of the most powerful and inspiring orators on speakers' circuits, Bernice leaves her audiences standing and challenged to transform their world. The golden jubilee of The Dream and Planet Africa's decade of advancing leadership and excellence will be marked. The guest list includes mayors, police chiefs, senators, MPs, business and community leaders.
OMNI Television is offering a prime time hour for broadcasting the gala. Recipients include Rob Meikle, Chief Information Officer for the City of Toronto; sports legend Fergie Jenkins; G98.7 FM Founder Fitzroy Gordon; the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines and others. Past recipients include Kevin Williams, President & Managing Director of General Motors Canada and Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka.
