SDA applauds Denis Coderre's promise to prioritize Technopôle Angus green neighbourhood development Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 25, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Société de développement Angus (SDA) is thrilled with Montreal mayor Denis Coderre's promise to prioritize the development of a green neighbourhood at Technopôle Angus. Mr. Coderre made this commitment at Locoshop Angus, at a breakfast hosted by the Chambre de commerce de l'Est de Montréal to give local businesses an opportunity to meet the incumbent mayor.
Mr. Coderre made a short-term commitment to adopt a by-law granting SDA approval to move forward with the development. He also promised to prioritize Phase 2 of Technopôle Angus, a major infrastructure project—just the support SDA needs to secure funding from the governments of Quebec and Canada through the Fonds Chantiers Canada–Québec infrastructure programs.
"SDA applauds Mayor Coderre's promise to prioritize Phase 2 of Technopôle Angus," said Christian Yaccarini, President and CEO of project developer Société de développement Angus. "With this commitment, we can secure the funding we need from the governments of Quebec and Canada. From there we hope to break ground in the very near future. Planned infrastructure work includes landscaping and excavation, new public squares, a leading-edge water management system, and an energy loop shared by all buildings."
"Montreal's east end is a key part of the municipal government's economic development strategy," said Montreal mayor Denis Coderre. "We want to strike a better balance between business and residential uses, promoting mixed-use wherever possible. I am committed to supporting social innovation in these areas, and today I am promising to make the infrastructure development of Phase 2 of Technopôle Angus a priority. I'd also like to stress that we are already in 'action mode' on projects ranging from the Logistics Cluster to the Blue Line Metro extension, which will come with an integrated transportation plan for improved frequency and enhanced fluidity."
Technopôle Angus, Phase 2: A model mixed-use green neighbourhood
Phase 2 of Technopôle Angus is a planned green neighbourhood that will stand as a model of innovation, attracting both businesses and families and generating positive outcomes for the economy, the environment, and the community. The green neighbourhood is conceived as an urban village where everything has been designed to create a space for living together in harmony and in connection with the surrounding neighbourhood. In a report published in July 2017, Montreal's public consultation office (OCPM) issued a favourable opinion on the project.
