Media Advisory - ENMAX Corporation launches public campaign on transmission
lines
"We are very concerned over the financial impact that these transmission lines will have on the pocketbooks of Albertans and feel we need to take action," said
What are the transmission projects being proposed?
Bill 50 is proposed new legislation that will push through multi-billion dollar transmission system upgrades for which we as Albertans will bear the cost. If the bill is passed, it will alter the existing approval process to make these upgrades happen. ENMAX would like to see major transmission decisions open to full public input and the need determined by the independent regulator, the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).
Although some transmission infrastructure is needed, ENMAX believes there are alternative, more cost effective means to ensure the lights stay on in Alberta.
Bill 50 is scheduled to be brought forward for its final reading and Royal Assent in the fall session of the legislature when it resumes on
