42 National Riders Arrive at Sears Sherway Gardens to Raise Money and
Awareness for Childhood Cancer

Who:	42 National Riders including
	- Sears Employee: Ken Cross has a daughter who has had cancer since she was four years old.   She was in remission last year, but the cancer has come back. Says Ken "It (cancer) will not win.   Megan and our family will fight with every ounce of our strength to ensure that this 'beast' does   not come back in the future." Ken also completed the Ride in 2009 and can share his experiences. - Child ambassadors who will share their personal stories dealing with pediatric cancer

The 42 Sears National Kids Cancer Ride cyclists departed from Vancouver September 9^th and arrive in Toronto on Saturday September 18^th at the Sears Sherway Gardens store, arriving at their final destination, Halifax on September 23^rd.  When the riders arrive in Halifax, they will have covered over 7,000 km. The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is one of the longest charity cycling events on behalf of childhood cancer in the world.  The 42 national riders will traverse the country, joined along the way by thousands of other cyclists who rode shorter distances along the way in cities across Canada. Together, these cyclists will raise money on behalf of charities that improve the quality of life for children, and their families, living with and beyond cancer. Funds raised will be directed to both local and community programs through pediatric oncology hospitals and centres as well as national initiatives in support of childhood oncology programs.
