Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - RETIRE YOUR RIDE CRUISES INTO FINAL SIX
MONTHS OF PROGRAM
TORONTO, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - Today, in celebration of Car Free Day and to encourage the use of sustainable transportation across the city, Retire Your Ride will be transforming Metro Hall Square into a sustainable zone. Retire Your Ride will also use the occasion to remind Ontarians that the program will be coming to an end on March 31, 2011.
To aid in the celebration, two teams of local artists will be onsite to transform responsibly retired vehicles into massive works of art, retired vehicles will be crushed in a professional vehicle compactor, BMX riders will be doing tricks, strongmen will be pulling retired vehicles across the square and event attendees will be invited to help decorate retired vehicles. AutoShare and PowerInMotion will also be onsite to demonstrate the benefits of car sharing and ebikes.
Steve Fletcher, Executive Director of the Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association, will also be present to award a donation to local charities on behalf of OARA.
