MONTREAL, Sept. 24, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - More than 500 professionals have gathered for the fifth National Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Canada from September 23 to 26 at the Hotel Hyatt Regency in Montréal. Coming from a variety of backgrounds including internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology, education and security, they are here to discuss pertinent issues and discover new developments in their fields.

Participants have four days of programming to experience, including special pre- and post-conference workshops, concurrent and plenary sessions, and more. "Internal auditing has achieved newfound significance over the past decade, as financial scandals have grabbed headlines in Canada, the United States and elsewhere around the world. We attach great importance to our work so the IIA Conference is an ideal opportunity to get up to date and share knowledge with our colleagues," explains Alphonse Galluccio, an associate at BDO Canada and co-chair of the 2012 Conference.

The Conference program features nearly fifty presentations, broken down into six main topics:

  3. Stay Relevant: Stay a relevant internal auditor
  4. Back-to-Basics: Ensure a solid foundation

"The members of our conference committees, all Québec professionals from a number of large-scale enterprises, have devoted months to developing a program that will have something to intrigue all delegates, no matter what their interests," adds Roger Martel, Vice-President Internal Audit, at Québecor Media Inc. and co-chair of the 2012 Conference.
