TORONTO, March 4, 2015 /CNW/ - In celebration of International Women's Day, YWCA Toronto is thrilled to announce the 2015 YWCA Toronto Women of Distinction. This year marks the 35th anniversary of recognizing outstanding women leaders in our city.
Women of Distinction are women who, through their own ability and effort, have made exemplary achievements in their field. They are women who are outstanding role models, committed to creating opportunities that improve the lives of women and girls in Toronto. Whether recognized as trailblazers in their field, or young women on the rise, all are pathfinders, developing solutions to the key issues facing Canadian women.
From women entrepreneurs, to human rights activists, public service city builders, health, education and corporate leaders and young artists, the seven women honoured at this year's annual awards event are champions - giving voice to women and building the next generation of leaders and activists. "The award recipients are women whose leadership, determination and innovation are challenging the barriers women and girls face. As YWCA Toronto's largest fundraiser, the Women of Distinction Awards bring together our friends and supporters, who give generously so we are able to continue to provide critically needed services and supports to Toronto's women and girls," says Heather McGregor, YWCA Toronto CEO.
The 2015 YWCA Toronto Women of Distinction will be formally announced at a reception hosted by TD Bank Group on March 5th. Press is invited to contact YWCA Toronto to arrange interviews with the award recipients, attend the recipient announcement or the Awards Ceremony at The Carlu on May 21st.
