View Video: ETALK has Oscar weekend covered
TORONTO, Feb. 22, 2017 /CNW/ - Hollywood's most anticipated and glamourous night in film has arrived, as CTV announced today broadcast details for THE OSCARS®, now the most-watched entertainment television broadcast in the country with an audience of 5.7 million in 2016. Airing live Sunday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT on CTV and CTV GO (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times), THE OSCARS® starts with Canada's own official red carpet special, ETALK AT THE OSCARS, launching Oscar Sunday live across the country at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. MT / 5 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. AT) and leading into OSCARS® OPENING CEREMONY: LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on CTV and CTV GO (check local listings).
CTV's ETALK AT THE OSCARS is the only Canadian entertainment news outlet broadcasting live from the Oscar red carpet as Anchor Ben Mulroney provides a Canadian perspective, while ETALK Co-Anchor Danielle Graham and ETALK and THE SOCIAL's Lainey Lui report from the exclusive balcony position for a birds-eye view of OSCAR's red carpet. Last year, ETALK AT THE OSCARS garnered 1.3 million viewers and had social media buzzing throughout the night with the hashtag #etalkRedCarpet trending across Canada.
All weekend long, the ETALK AT THE OSCARS hosts provide an exclusive, up-close-and-personal perspective as they immerse themselves in all-things OSCAR. Viewers can engage all weekend long, by following and tweeting along with @etalkCTV, @BenMulroney, @DanielleGraham, @LaineyGossip, @CTV_PR, and @CTV_Television, interacting on Instagram @BellMediaPR and @etalkCTV, and tuning in to live Facebook chats and updates. Further details will be revealed throughout the week.
"From the first step on the carpet, to the last award handed out on stage, CTV is the ultimate destination for the exclusive OSCAR experience," said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President, CTV and Specialty. "For the first time ever this year, CTV airs its exclusive red carpet special ETALK AT THE OSCARS for a full hour across every market in the country on CTV and CTV Two, providing a truly immersive OSCAR experience for Canadians from coast to coast to coast."
As Canada's #1 source for Oscar news, and leading up to Oscar Sunday (Feb. 26), for the third year in a row CTV's ETALK is taking a starring role as presenting sponsor of the Canadian Nominee Reception. On Feb. 23, The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Telefilm Canada, and the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles will host this year's Canadian Nominee Reception from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., presented by CTV's ETALK at the Official Residence of Canada in Los Angeles. Attendees include Canadians nominated for Academy Awards and Independent Spirit Awards, as well as notable L.A.-based Canadian actors. This year's intimate event replaces the Canada Stars of the Awards Season event of past years. Attendees include Canadian Academy Awards nominees and Canadian talent such as Denis Villeneuve (Director, Arrival), Mark O'Brien (Arrival, REPUBLIC OF DOYLE), Julie Roy (Blind Vaysha), Benjamin Hollingsworth (CODE BLACK), Karine Vanasse (CARDINAL), Maxim Roy (19-2, SHADOWHUNTERS), Simu Liu (KIM'S CONVENIENCE), and Amanda Brugel (EYEWITNESS), as well as, key industry producers and influencers.
"Kicking off OSCAR weekend with the third annual Canadian Nominee Reception in L.A, and culminating with a post-OSCAR show, ETALK covers everything in between, delivering unparalleled access to viewers for the most exciting weekend in Hollywood," said Nanci MacLean, Vice-President, Bell Media Production. "Whether it be live tweeting from their red carpet rehearsal, or attending the weekend's most exciting pre-parties leading in to Sunday's big night, our ETALK hosts are once again at the forefront of it all, providing a uniquely Canadian perspective and the very best in original content."
CTV's live broadcast of THE OSCARS® is complemented, once again, by extensive digital coverage on CTV.ca. CTV.ca will house a live stream of the show, clips from THE OSCARS® ceremony, including all awards and speeches, all the red carpet specials, and an on-demand replay of the broadcast. Also, CTV.ca is home to behind-the-scenes interviews, "Thank You Cam," photo galleries of the broadcast show, the best looks from the year's most glamorous red carpet, the exclusive after parties, and other exclusive online content not seen during the broadcast. Leading up to Oscar Sunday, CTV.ca and etalk.ca/Oscars are the home of extended ETALK interviews online with select OSCAR nominees, including Emma Stone (La La Land), Denzel Washington (Fences) and Viola Davis (Fences), and more.
