TORONTO, Feb. 4, 2016 /CNW/ - Envision Sports & Entertainment announced today the signing of Canadian women's soccer star and team captain, Christine Sinclair. The Toronto based sports marketing and athlete management agency will exclusively manage sponsorship, endorsements, public relations, and charitable and community initiatives on Sinclair's behalf.
"We are extremely proud that Christine chose to work with us," said Brian Levine, President of Envision Sports & Entertainment. "She is a spirited athlete, a proven leader and an incredible person. We look forward to supporting Christine in all her pursuits. As Christine turns her attention to the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament in Texas this month, we will begin exploring a variety of growth opportunities for her off the field. One focus will be working more closely with organizations that are as committed as Christine is to the growth of girls and women's soccer."
"I see the next few years as an opportunity to further my legacy as a player while laying the foundation to contribute to sport and youth development in other exciting ways," explained Sinclair when asked about the future. "I've been impressed by Envision Sports & Entertainment's commitment and big-picture approach to the athletes and organizations they work with and am excited by the possibilities that lie ahead."
Since joining the Canadian women's national team at aged 16, Sinclair has played in 232 international matches and along the way has become the all-time Canadian leader in goals scored. Currently tied for second in the world in all-time international goals by a female, she has participated in four FIFA World Cups and two Olympic Games, leading the Canadian team to a bronze medal at the London Olympics where she was the tournament's top scorer and chosen as Canada's flag bearer for the Closing Ceremonies.
In 2012, Sinclair was awarded both the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada's Athlete of the Year and the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as Canada's Female Athlete of the Year. She is also a recipient of a Diamond Jubilee medal. In 2013, Sinclair was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. Sinclair has also won five professional women's championship titles with three different teams along with two NCAA titles.
