Former PMO policy director to lead Canadians for Clean Prosperity
Mark Cameron to focus on building support for a stronger, cleaner economy.
TORONTO, June 29, 2015 /CNW/ - Today Canadians for Clean Prosperity, announced that Mark Cameron, a former policy director to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, will become their new Executive Director. Canadians for Clean Prosperity is an independent group dedicated to strengthening both the economy and the environment by pricing pollution and cutting taxes.
"Mark's deep understanding of Canada's economy, experience in energy and environmental issues, and credibility among thought leaders and decision makers have made him an important voice. We are thrilled to welcome him as he leads Canadians for Clean Prosperity's fight to create economic prosperity and environmental sustainability for all Canadians," said Greg Kiessling, Chair of Canadians for Clean Prosperity's board.
Cameron, who is joining Canadians for Clean Prosperity from H+K Strategies, where he was energy practice leader, has also worked in senior roles with Ontario Power Generation and BlackBerry, and in government, including as Director of Policy and Research and Senior Policy Advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
"Canadian businesses, governments, and citizens can no longer afford to pit the environment and the economy against each other. For Canada to succeed, economic competitiveness and environmental sustainability need to go hand in hand," said Cameron. "I'm excited to join Canadians for Clean Prosperity to help reconcile the environment and the economy, starting with pricing pollution so we can lower taxes on everything else."
Founded in 2014, Canadians for Clean Prosperity is a nonpartisan, not for profit organization which builds support for policies that strengthen both the economy and the environment, and have run campaigns to lower taxes using a fully refunded carbon price and to reduce landfill waste through individual producer responsibility.
