H&R Block Canada partners with The Mustard Seed to offer free tax clinic in Calgary

This tax season, local non-profit, The Mustard Seed, to offer its clients access to H&R Block Tax Experts

CALGARY, Feb. 16, 2017 /CNW/ - This tax season H&R Block Canada will be helping people in need get what's theirs. In partnership with The Mustard Seed, a Calgary-based non-profit organization that has been caring for the needs of the less fortunate since 1984, H&R Block will be offering free tax preparation services in Calgary to people who are low income and vulnerably housed.

"H&R Block Canada is headquartered in Calgary, and this tax season we want to lend a helping hand to our neighbours in need," says Richard Brown, President, H&R Block Canada. "The Mustard Seed is the ideal partner to help bring this program to life, as they have been working with Calgarians in need of support for more than 30 years. Every year Canadians who live below the poverty line miss out on important government benefits, such as the GST credit, because they don't file their taxes. For many, simply not having a mailing address to use for their tax filing or having the required government identification prevents them from accessing government support programs. At the H&R Block free tax clinic, The Mustard Seed's clients will be able to overcome many of the challenges that may have prevented them from filing their taxes in past years.
