OTTAWA, Aug. 24, 2016 /CNW/ - In the wake of the explosion on Friday night at an illegal marijuana dispensary in the Forest Hill neighbourhood of Toronto, Cannabis Canada Association, the leading organization of Canada's Licensed Producers of Medical Cannabis, reminds the federal government that there is no time to waste in putting in place a legal framework for the legalization of marijuana and urges provinces and municipalities to continue to proactively enforce Canada's laws and shut down illegal marijuana operations, including dispensaries, in the interim.
"This unfortunate incident, where an explosion was triggered in a busy city neighbourhood, and a person working in an illegal dispensary badly burned, underlines the need for governments to be acting swiftly and decisively to protect citizens," said Colette Rivet, Executive Director of the Association.
