Douglas Fir Resort Celebrates 25 years of Slip-Sliding Fun
BANFF, AB, May 12 /CNW/ - It's been a rite of passage for thousands of Albertans; scrambling up the stairs and taking the plunge from the top of the Douglas Fir Resort's two twisty water slides. Today, the resort celebrates 25 years of slip-sliding play and recognition as an industry leader in family accommodation.
The resort's commitment to family friendly accommodation was acknowledged by Calgary's Child magazine with the Parents' Choice Award. It has been catering to families since it began welcoming visitors to Banff in 1946 and continually adds to their list of family friendly amenities. In 1985, the Douglas Fir Resort opened up it's now famous indoor water park. The very popular Playzone was opened in 2005 offering a variety of obstacles for children to enjoy including: three speed slides, huge climbing tree trunk and two storeys of entertainment. In 2009 the Resort added a games and video arcade room in the water park. Older kids particularly enjoy the most recent additions to this space - pool table, foosball and air hockey.
Now, the rooms at Douglas Fir Resort are even more family-friendly than ever. The latest completed upgrades include HDTV flat screen televisions, DVD players and "plug and play" panels in every living room making it easy for families to bring their favorite movies and connect their gaming consoles (wii, Xbox, Playstation) to the TV. Keeping families entertained is easy at Banff's finest family accommodation.
