Man who shot video of bus operator running light "remorseful." Wants operator to stay with TTC.
TORONTO, July 30, 2014 /CNW/ - The Toronto man who shot the video of the TTC Bus Operator going through a red light is very remorseful that he caused the single mother of two to lose her job. He says he would take it back if he could.
Nicholas Roy initially sent the video to the TTC but after not hearing back for more than six hours, he sent it to CTV, which aired the story.
"If I had thought that this would have resulted in the driver losing her job, I would have buried that video so deep that the devil wouldn't have seen it," he said.
"I feel terrible about this. It was not in my mind at the time that this bus driver should be fired. That was not my intention.
"I totally disagree with the TTC on this. Sure, she should be counselled and maybe suffer some penalty but taking away her job is far too harsh," says Roy. "There are other jobs in the TTC she could do."
Roy says he has read the letter written by the woman explaining what happened. "She described the situation as I saw it. There was a moment of possible danger, but fortunately no one was hurt.'
