TORONTO, March 2, 2016 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced that the company retailed a total of 3,400 units in February. This represented the best February on record for the group with a tremendous sales increase of 28.7% or 759 units compared to February 2015. Total year-to-date sales are up 23.1% or an additional 1,187 units when compared to the same time period last year.
A total of 2,850 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were delivered in February which is 24.2% or 555 units ahead. Passenger car sales totaled 1,546 units whereas luxury light truck sales amounted to 1,304 units, up 12% and 42.5% respectively in comparison to 2015 sales figures.
Mercedes-Benz Canada reached another important milestone in February by retailing 434 Mercedes-AMG units thus shattering its previous record established in May 2015. This impressive sales result is greatly attributable to the demand for the new Mercedes-AMG sport models such as the C 450 sedan, the GLE 450 as well as the GLE 450 Coupe.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 68.9% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 94.9% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in February (excluding smart).
smart reported brisk sales in February with a total of 192 vehicles retailed.
A total of 358 Mercedes-Benz Vans units were delivered throughout February. This represented an 18.2% increase for the month, and helped boost overall growth for the division with 632 units sold so far this year.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division posted record-breaking gains of 14.2% this month with 1,045 retail deliveries. This performance was also mirrored in Certified Pre-Owned sales which reached an all-time high for the month of February with 817 units sold for 78.2% of the volume.
"I am pleased to report that we have continued to show record sales gains again this month," said Gareth T. Joyce, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "It was a bustling and stimulating February as we launched many premieres at the Canadian International Auto Show including a very exciting line-up of new dream cars that will be available in Canada later this spring. With even more model introductions on the immediate horizon coupled with solid inventories in our dealerships across the country, we are well poised to take on the month of March with the same level of determination as we have done in previous months. In parallel, we are implementing new programs and processes that will continue to delight our customers in all levels of our business."
