MONTREAL, Oct. 21, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Chirfi Guindo, President and Managing Director of Merck Canada Inc. (left) and Ms. Nathalie Bondil, Director and Chief Curator of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (right) with the painting by renowned artist Jean McEwen donated by Merck Canada to the museum's permanent collection. The painting is an original by the late painter, who is considered one of the giants of contemporary art in Quebec and Canada. A pharmacist by training, McEwen always had a keen interest in painting and, in 1951, only one year after graduating from the Université de Montréal, decided to pursue a full-time art career and moved to Paris, France. The abstract work of art by the famed artist was previously part of Merck's corporate art collection and, until recently, was housed in the company's Canadian headquarters.
