Quote
"I am pleased that the 2017 Intelligent Transportation Systems World Congress is being held in my hometown, especially this year as we celebrate its 375th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of the Confederation. Today, I had the opportunity to have excellent exchanges with industry leaders and members of governments from around the world about the way new technologies are transforming transportation networks and services.
Innovation is key to achieving our Government's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change while ensuring safety, efficiency and economic growth. To that end, we are working with industry and other partners to promote research and development in new transportation technologies like drones, zero emission vehicles and connected and automated vehicles. Canadians rely on economically viable modes of transportation to travel and move commodities within the country and across our borders."
The Honourable Marc Garneau
