New Medical Device Tackling Pelvic Floor Issues Receives Health Canada Approval
Joylux Inc. Debuts vSculpt, a Pelvic Floor Toning and Vaginal Rejuvenation Therapy, at Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada Expo in Toronto
TORONTO, June 9, 2016 /CNW/ -- Joylux Inc., a health technology company based in Seattle, WA, launches vSculpt in Canada after receiving approval from Health Canada. vSculpt is the world's first over-the-counter handheld medical device utilizing LED (light-emitting diode) technology to help treat the millions of women who suffer from pelvic floor disorders (PFDs). An astonishing one in three women is impacted by some form of PFD, most commonly brought on by childbearing and menopause. Weakened pelvic floor muscles, vaginal tissue laxity, and hormonal changes cause women to suffer gynecological health issues, including bladder leakage and pain during intercourse. Joylux aims to raise awareness of these very prevalent, but often private, taboo issues, and provide women with an innovative solution to alleviate the pain, discomfort, and embarrassment of PFDs.
vSculpt combines LEDs, commonly used in aesthetic dermatology to rejuvenate facial tissue, with gentle heat and sonic vibration to help heal and restore the muscles and tissues of the pelvic floor area from the damage caused by childbirth and menopause. vSculpt's overall effect is enhanced pelvic floor health, improved control, and sexual wellbeing.
vSculpt is the brainchild of Joylux, Inc. CEO and Founder Colette Courtion, a serial entrepreneur whose background in laser and light medical technologies, coupled with her personal experience of motherhood, resulted in an "aha" moment. "As incredible as it is to be a woman and a mother, there are some unfortunate physical changes that occur after we give birth or as we age," says Colette. "Not only are these physical changes difficult to deal with, but they can also negatively impact our self-esteem and lead to intimacy issues with our partner. With vSculpt, women now have an effective solution that can be used in the privacy of the home to improve PFDs, while helping rebuild self-confidence."
vSculpt is a licensed medical device approved by Health Canada. Users can download a compatible mobile app to assist in tracking treatment time and accessing product instructions and useful tips. Used three times per week for ten minutes per session over 60 days, vSculpt has delivered impressive results. In a 2015 independent study, female study participants reported the following:
- 90% experienced less bladder leakage,
- 95% felt improved vaginal tightness,
- 91% experienced more vaginal hydration,
- 89% felt increased vaginal sensitivity, and
- 89% felt an increased sense of confidence with sexual intercourse.
"I was extremely unhappy with the medical choices available such as hormonal creams, etc., and just resigned myself to enduring pain during intercourse. I must say I was thrilled that my vSculpt device made intercourse pain free," reported a female study participant.
Another woman shared, "Before vSculpt, I would have to hide [wearing a pad for leakage]… I'd put extra pads in my shorts, which also had an extra lining. It was protection on top of protection in case something happened."
"vSculpt is helping women who have pelvic floor issues experience a better quality of life. As an OB/GYN and women's health advocate, I'm excited to see the positive impact vSculpt will play in advancing women's wellness," says Sarah de la Torre, MD.
vSculpt will debut at the Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada Expo June 14 – 16, 2016, located at Enercare Centre in Toronto, ON, Booth #301.
Retailing for C$395, vSculpt is available at http://ca.vsculpt.com, http://www.londondrugs.com, through select medical professionals, and at select Canadian retailers nationwide.
