TORONTO, March 21, 2016 /CNW/ - The Ontario Natural Gas Alliance (ONGA) is pleased to announce that it has appointed veteran public affairs practitioner Jamie Ellerton as primary spokesperson. Mr. Ellerton brings a wealth of public affairs and communications experience to the role, including past advocacy work on behalf of Canada's petroleum industry.
Keith Boulton, Director of Public Affairs at Union Gas Limited, described the appointment of Mr. Ellerton as "an important step in the evolution of ONGA," as the sector works to collaborate with the government of Ontario on the coming implementation of a cap-and-trade regime.
Chris Wray, Manager of Government Relations of Enbridge Gas Distribution, pointed to Mr. Ellerton's past experience working at both The House of Commons and Queen's Park as "vital to the process of engaging decision makers and public leaders at Queen's Park in our shared goal of addressing climate change."
Mr. Ellerton, whose previous work and commentary has been featured in The Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star and Huffington Post Canada, said today:
"I'm delighted to be joining the Ontario Natural Gas Alliance at this important time. Natural Gas is an ally in the fight against climate change. The largest source of emissions in Ontario is the transportation sector and natural gas is 30 per cent cleaner than traditional transportation fuels. By embracing natural gas, Ontario can continue to be a North American leader in the fight against climate change, while growing the economy and creating jobs."
Mr. Ellerton is available for interview opportunities upon request.
