PEI Potato Truck leaves Island for Parliament Hill
Potato Board rallies farmers and industry leaders to ship 6,000 bags of potatoes to Ottawa for passerby giveaways, Wed., Dec. 8, 11 a.m.
CHARLOTTETOWN, PE, Dec. 7, 2021 /CNW/ - A truck load of fresh PEI potatoes – 6,000 bags – departed from Charlottetown yesterday at 6 p.m. on the 1,300-plus kilometre journey to Ottawa where they will join representatives from the Island's potato industry in a grassroots and broad coalition of groups supporting the cause of PEI potato farmers in the face of a two-week major trade issue.
Representatives from Island potato farms will join provincial government and industry leaders to hand out potatoes to the general public in an effort to highlight the reciprocal affection between farmers and their supporters, coast to coast to coast, who have been expressing their mutual concern and solidarity over the ongoing ban on exports of PEI Potatoes to the U.S.

Chad is a multigenerational farmer. He farms with his dad and brother at Marvyn's Gardens. And is a partner with his uncle and cousin at East Point Potato.
John Visser – available onsite from 10 a.m. onward in Ottawa
A third generational farmer, his father Martin Visser is considered one of the founders of the potato export business in Prince Edward Island. Today John farms with his twin brother Melis. They farm seed, table and processing potatoes in Victoria, Prince Edward Island.
