MONTREAL, Sept. 8, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Mr. Jean-Nicolas Guillemette, Uber Quebec General Manager, made the following statement regarding the pilot project for ridesharing put in place by the Quebec Government.
"Today the Government of Quebec and Uber have agreed in principle on a pilot project that puts in place rules for ridesharing across the province.
While we are evaluating our ability to offer quality service to riders and drivers under this new pilot project, we have decided to continue operating for two important reasons.
Firstly, as we have always said, we want to continue bringing the benefits of ridesharing to our province, giving Quebecers more options to get around town or use their car to earn income on their own schedule.
Second, we want to demonstrate that we're ready to work in a regulated industry and be a partner in innovation.
In the days to come, we'll have more to say about how this pilot project impacts riders and drivers. For now, we want to thank all our supporters for all you've done over the past several months. We'll see you on the road."
