Sandvine Virtual Series Achieves Certification with Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0
WATERLOO, ON, Jan. 31, 2017 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that Sandvine Virtual Series products are now certified for use on Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0.
The Red Hat® OpenStack® Platform combines the power of Red Hat Enterprise Linux® with Red Hat OpenStack technology to deliver a scalable and secure foundation that allows Communications Service Providers to build and manage a virtualized carrier network.
Supporting open source and open standards, the Sandvine Virtual Series delivers all the features of the traditional Sandvine platform as an elastically-scalable virtual network function (VNF) for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)-ready networks. NFV is a carrier-led effort to move away from proprietary hardware, motivated by the desire to dramatically increase agility, enable faster service launches, and dramatically reduce the cost of deployment.
"By achieving the Red Hat OpenStack Platform certification, Sandvine is giving communications service providers additional choice in how they deploy Sandvine virtualized solutions," said Don Bowman, CTO, Sandvine. "Sandvine's goal is to have the most open and highest performing virtualized network policy control platform in the market, and working with companies like Red Hat is just one of the ways we are achieving that goal."
