TELETOON AT NIGHT'S ORIGINAL SERIES THE DATING GUY SERVES UP A COMEDY
COCKTAIL WITH A PROVOCATIVE TWIST
The TELETOON At Night Original Production Premieres Sunday, October 17 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
TORONTO, Sept. 23 /CNW Telbec/ - TELETOON At Night is shaking it up this fall with a cocktail of dating, sex and friendship in the Canadian premiere of the animated comedy series, The Dating Guy, on Sunday, October 17 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT as part of "TELETOON at Night," TELETOON's post-9 p.m. programming block for young adults. The 26-episode, half-hour series features a cast of talented Canadian voice actors as well as guest appearances by Canadian comedy heavyweights Russell Peters and Howie Mandel.
"The Dating Guy is a great addition to our new fall line-up for TELETOON at Night, giving viewers a hilarious, edgy and irreverent take on the 20-something dating scene," said Carole Bonneau, Vice-President, Programming, TELETOON. "We are particularly excited to launch this series with a unique, content-heavy online extension including two web series and an extensive website."
Created by marblemedia partners Mark Bishop and Matt Hornburg, The Dating Guy follows four friends - Mark, Woody, Sam and VJ - on their weekly hunt for love, or at least some kind of "happy ending." From the ins and outs of dating a werewolf to the subtleties of seducing a virgin porn star, The Dating Guy takes viewers on a no-holds barred and eclectic journey into the dating world of 20-somethings - including the time in life where school is done, work is whatever, and flying to the Philippines to procure a black market liver for a girlfriend's dying brother is just an average Tuesday night.
The Dating Guy was co-produced by marblemedia and eOne Entertainment for TELETOON Canada Inc. Directed by Jamie Whitney (Eek The Cat, Bob & Margaret, Maggie and The Ferocious Beast), the series is brought to life by an award-winning, innovative creative team, including: Creators/Executive Producers Matt Hornburg and Mark Bishop (This Is Daniel Cook, The Adrenaline Project, Taste Buds); Executive Producers Frank Saperstein (Kampung Boy, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Pee Wee's Playhouse), John Morayniss (The Best Years, Whistler, Till Death Do Us Part); Supervising Producer Marilyn McAuley (Jacob Two Two, Clone High, Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series); and Supervising Director Joseph Sherman (Johnny Test, Busytown, Quest).
About DatingGuy.com
The Dating Guy experience is extended online at DatingGuy.com, a comprehensive website complete with blogs, quizzes, videos, polls, a "sexy cartoon" image gallery, full episodes of The Dating Guy and two original web series.
The first series, called The Morning After Show, is a weekly debrief by a live-action panel of dating experts and celebrity panelists, including Jonathan Roy and The Bachelorette's Craig McKinnon, discussing topics from the previous night's episode.
The second web series, Dr. Love, features live action rant videos from a character who is referenced, but never seen, on the show. Dr. Love discusses topics and clips from The Dating Guy in a real-world context and with an edgy, comedic spin. The website launches on October 17 and new content will be posted on a weekly basis throughout the show's run.
The Dating Guy is produced with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian Cable Industry, with the assistance of the Rogers Cable Network Fund and the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund.
