The city of Montreal issued a request for proposals to acquire a cloud-based solution to perform activity-based costing and reporting. More specifically, the city wanted to improve its Activity-Based Management (ABM) capabilities and also put in place a financial and operational data collection process. The ultimate goal was to generate strategic information that would enable the city to make more informed decisions.
The DECIMAL Solution was chosen because it meets every one of the city's requirements: it supports benchmarking initiatives, pinpoints potential optimization areas, gives managers an important decision-making tool, and provides much-needed support for the budgeting process by generating a complete cost breakdown for every service provided by the city.
