TORONTO, Sept. 12, 2017 /CNW/ - Launching today, Change Day Ontario is part of a global movement, designed to empower people within the health system to make positive changes through making pledges and taking actions, big or small, to improve compassionate quality care.
"Healthcare workers are the backbone of the healthcare system," says Gail Paech, Associated Medical Services CEO. "They know what changes will make the difference to compassionate, patient-centred care and how to improve their work environments."
From now until November 17, 2017, anyone engaged within or touched by the health system is invited to participate by making a pledge. The pledge can be anything from spending a day in a wheelchair to better understand the patient experience to teaching seniors social media skills to decrease isolation and depression.
"A culture of quality in our health care system can happen when everyone participates in the process of improvement" says Dr. Joshua Tepper, President and Chief Executive Officer, Health Quality Ontario. "Change Day Ontario is a chance to remind ourselves that we can all make a difference through acts of change, big and small."
Originating in the UK, Change Day has now spread to many countries, and most recently to Canada in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and, now, Ontario. To date, over 40 organizations from across the provinces have joined Change Day Ontario.
Change Day Ontario is being sponsored by Associated Medical Services (AMS) and Health Quality Ontario. To learn more please visit, changedayontario.ca.
