LIVERPOOL, England, April 19, 2017 /CNW/ -- The University of Liverpool's fully online MSc in Psychology has been accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), making it one of the few online programmes to hold this accreditation. The representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, the BPS promotes excellence and ethical practice in the science, education and practical applications of psychology. BPS accreditation is an independent mark of quality that demonstrates to prospective students and employers that the Society's quality standards in education and training are met.
"This prestigious accreditation means that University of Liverpool's online students can be even more confident that they will earn a qualification that meets the highest standards. It offers students the assurance of the programme's suitability whether they intend to pursue further study in psychology or to apply psychological principles and research techniques to roles in other fields," said Dr Ricardo Tejeiro, director of studies for the University of Liverpool's online psychology programmes.
The BPS has recognised the University's online MSc in Psychology degree as a "conversion master's" that may offer those with no previous academic degree in psychology a faster route towards practising as a psychologist in the UK. Graduates of this BPS-accredited master's will qualify to apply for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the BPS, a prerequisite for undertaking further study leading to registration as a Chartered Psychologist in the UK.
The University's long history in psychology goes back to Nobel Laureate Sir Charles Sherrington, who was Professor of Physiology from 1895 to 1913. In the UK's most recent Research Excellence Framework assessment (REF 2014), the University of Liverpool ranks in the UK's top 15 (out of 81 universities) for the impact of its research case studies in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience.
Designed for working professionals, the University of Liverpool's fully online learning model enables students to earn an advanced academic degree without interrupting their career – from wherever they are based in the world. Students enjoy an engaging, global and highly collaborative learning experience that provides them with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills to achieve their goals and to enhance their professional impact.
