SUTTON, QC, March 10, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Mont SUTTON is sold! The Superior court has confirmed today that the acquisition process of Ski Sutton Inc. by the group of investors Jean-Michel Ryan, Pierre Chesnay and Sylvain Gervais is now completed, for an amount of 7.5 M$. This amount includes the purchase of all Ski Sutton Inc. shares, the debt and other entities related to the Boulanger family.
"This ultimate step confirming the transaction is the outcome of a long process, said Jean-Michel Ryan, one of the new Mont SUTTON's owners. With my partners, Pierre Chesnay and Sylvain Gervais, we have worked on a solid and credible offer for the Boulanger family. We wanted the offer to respect the community, the customers and employees. Mont SUTTON's operations are sitting on a strong management team, dedicated staff and a passionate team of volunteers. With the unique product that is Mont SUTTON and all its distinctive qualities, we are honoured to take over the mountain and we are enthusiastic for the future of it and the Sutton community. We look forward to mobilize all of Sutton's strengths and make of this destination a high quality place to live and one of the most famous destinations in Quebec. We would also like to thank our partner we have the privilege to work with, Nature Conservancy of Canada, who has agreed to purchase a portion of the Dos d'Orignal grounds to consolidate the Green Mountains Nature Reserve Sutton sector."
For the Boulanger family, the conclusion of this transaction means success for Mont SUTTON. "We are very pleased to leave our mountain to this group. After 56 years of operation, we are very confident to pass on the torch to the new owners. It's a page of history that has been turned and a new one that has been started for them. We know that the mountain will be developed in the interest of the entire community, employees and customers. We leave Mont SUTTON in such good hands! In the name of the family, I would like to congratulate the new owners and to wish them all the best", said Mister Hercule Boulanger.
Upcoming investment plan
After the assessment of the current season, new owners will confirm the investments for the upcoming year and years, for snowmaking equipment and accommodation infrastructures, as announced last January 27, amongst others.
Mont SUTTON: an exceptional family's work of art
Mont SUTTON is considered as one of the jewels of Québec's ski community. Its unique glades skiing, renowned as the best in Canada, its snowy microclimate, its varied terrain, its numerous junctions allowing an infinite combination of descents, the omnipresent nature and the authentic atmosphere, all this makes it a unique and exceptional destination.
In 1960, there was a dream, a great dream... developing the mountain at Sutton into a ski resort where enthusiasts of winter could practice their favorite sport in a beautiful environment and where they would find pleasurable scenery for the eyes and challenges for the body! Over the years, the Boulanger family members brought their colors to the resort, working and investing all their passion, their heart and their soul. The work of Réal Boulanger continues today at Mont SUTTON with leadership, passion and innovation and all this, because of the family, the employees, the partners and loyal customers.
"We are extremely respectful for what Réal Boulanger (the founder) and the Boulanger family did with Mont SUTTON, which is one of the jewels of Québec's ski community. We want to continue this vision and development. We received many positives testimonies from the customers, the employees and the community, who are confident that our group will ensure Mont SUTTON's good management and development. All of this by preserving the mountain's DNA, its distinct qualities that make it one of the most beautiful ski mountains in Quebec. It's a commitment! We want to safeguard the charms of the mountain, the amazing glades and the authentic character of this wonderful Eastern Townships ski mountain and one of the most beautiful in Quebec. The most beautiful for us", said Jean-Michel Ryan, current general manager and new Mont SUTTON's owner.
