IFDS Canada Achieves ISO 27001 Certification

IFDS has established a quality Information Security Management System (ISMS) in conformance with the International Quality System Standard ISO 27001

TORONTO, April 12, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian operation of International Financial Data Services (IFDS), the international transfer agency joint venture between State Street Corporation and DST Systems, Inc., announced today that it has recently achieved ISO 27001 certification, establishing IFDS as one of the leaders in its field.

ISO 27001 is the set of international standard specifications against which organizations can certify the compliance of their Information Security Management System (ISMS). The 27001 group of standards set out by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) includes requirements for the establishment, implementation, monitoring and review of an organization's overall framework for managing information security risks.

This independent assessment brings increased rigor and formal controls to an organization's system, helping to reduce risk and increase security awareness. IFDS Canada joins the small group of fewer than a dozen Canadian organizations with ISO 27001 certification.
