ANNUAL INSPECTION OF THE CEREMONIAL GUARD
10 a.m.
Witness the pageantry, precision and colour of the Governor General's annual Inspection of the Ceremonial Guard, which includes members of regiments from across the country.
Over the summer months, visitors will be able to enjoy the much-loved Relief of the Sentries, where sentries are led by a piper to their posts, daily, on the hour.
OPEN TO MEDIA--The event will take place in front of the residence.
LAUNCH OF STORYTIME AT RIDEAU HALL
10:30 a.m.
Delight in stories and snacks as we kick off this annual outdoor family activity that celebrates reading and literacy. The Governor General, along with a special guest from the Ceremonial Guard and volunteers from Frontier College, will read children's stories written by--among others--Order of Canada members Chris Hadfield and Dominique Demers. This year, the Order of Canada marks 50 years of honouring great Canadians.
Storytime is hosted in collaboration with Frontier College, a Canadian charitable literacy organization. Every Friday and Saturday, from June 30th to August 26th, families are invited to settle in under the Reading Tent, near the Visitor Centre, to read books and participate in fun literacy activities.
OPEN TO MEDIA--The event will take place outside, near the residence.
