Investing in Canadian heritage facilities
GATINEAU, QC, Feb. 23, 2018 /CNW/ - Public Services and Procurement Canada is committed to revitalizing its heritage assets within its existing portfolio and to creating jobs that will help strengthen and grow the middle class.
Today, the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced a contract to Moriyama & Teshima Architects and Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd. for design and architectural services for the West Memorial Building. The building, which is currently unused, will become an accessible and modern workplace that meets today's health, safety and environmental standards. In the interim, this heritage asset will serve as temporary accommodation for all occupants of the Supreme Court of Canada Building during the future rehabilitation work on that building (planned to start in 2023).
Rehabilitating the West Memorial Building is an important project that will serve to preserve this memorial that honours Canadians who served our country during the Second World War.
A Request for Proposal to select a construction management firm will be launched in summer 2018.
