Investigators Seek Key Information on Particular Footwear
ORANGEVILLE, ON, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - On Wednesday September 8, 2010 Orangeville Police Chief Joseph Tomei and Detective Inspector Mark Pritchard of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) held a media conference in Orangeville to update the media in regards to the ongoing Sonia VARASCHIN homicide investigation.
Sonia VARASCHIN was reported missing by her family on Monday August 30, 2010 after she failed to show up for work. Her blood stained Toyota Corolla was located in an alley way behind the Orangeville Town Hall near Alexandria Park and blood was also found at her Spring Street residence.
Sonia's body was discovered in a wooded area off of Beech Grove Sideroad in the Town of Caledon on Sunday September 5, 2010. A post mortem examination determined that she was the victim of a homicide.
On Wednesday, investigators released information relating to a specific type of footwear which may help to identify Sonia VARASCHIN'S killer. The footwear impression belongs to a Wind River or Dakota style work boot, size 10 or 11, and is only available at Mark's Work Warehouse stores.
