In today's digital age, most of us can travel around the world from the comfort of our living room couch, but there are some who still push the boundaries of exploration in our modern world. In 1992, a young doctor from Sault St Marie strapped herself into a pressurized spaceship and risked it all to go on a space mission. Roberta Bondar's reasons for pursuing space travel are remarkably similar to that of The RCGS Explorer-in-Residence Jill Heinerth, who ventures deep into our planet's underwater places and has discovered creatures no human has seen before. The solo treks of Explorer-in-Residence Adam Shoalts have taken him all across Canada, leading him to discover unmarked waterfalls and bringing him face to face with polar bears. Canadian Geographic's 10-episode podcast series Explore will introduce listeners to 10 of Canada's greatest explorers, allowing audiences a peek into their world and what drives them.
Explore has been made possible with support from One Ocean Expeditions, the exclusive expedition cruise partner of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
