TORONTO, April 6, 2022 /CNW/ - The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) will be available for comment prior to and after the release of the federal budget tomorrow. CFIB president Dan Kelly, senior vice-president of national affairs Corinne Pohlmann and vice-president of national affairs Jasmin Guenette will be in Ottawa on April 7 to discuss the federal budget and small businesses.
Small businesses are still struggling with labour shortages, decreased revenue and supply chain issues. More than nine in 10 (94%) businesses say their costs have increased at a time when they can scarcely afford it.
CFIB has made several recommendations to the federal government urging it to keep small businesses at the centre of Budget 2022, including:
- Ensure that the cost of doing business does not increase and reduce red tape.
- Prioritize policies that help with labour shortages.
- Control government spending and set a timeframe to balance the budget.
- Make sure the COVID-19 relief measures and other policies support small businesses on the path to recovery.
