BACKGROUND:
- 79 million children are trapped in "3D" jobs: dirty, dangerous and degrading work. These jobs harm the physical, mental and emotional development of children. (ILO)
- Canada imported more than $43 billion in risky goods that may have involved child or forced labour in the supply chains of products we buy. (World Vision)
- Canada's child and forced labour problem continues to get worse, over the past five years, the value of these risky goods has risen by 22%. (World Vision)
- Over 150,000 Canadians have signed a petition calling the Government of Canada to act. Canadians can get involved by joining World Vision's No Child For Sale initiative.
Video and photos of both the event and child labour available on request.
