• Ahead of World Day Against Child Labour World Vision Canada is engaging Canadians to stand up for 79 million children trapped in child labour
• Large display of 79 child mannequins, each representing one million children globally who are trapped in dirty, dangerous and degrading work
• Interactive, educational experiences on this critical issue for Canadians, students, children and families
• World Vision youth ambassadors and activists available for interviews on how Canadians can help end child labour around the world

BACKGROUND: 

• 79 million children are trapped in "3D" jobs: dirty, dangerous and degrading work. These jobs harm the physical, mental and emotional development of children. (ILO)
• Canada imported more than $43 billion in risky goods that may have involved child or forced labour in the supply chains of products we buy. (World Vision)
• Canada's child and forced labour problem continues to get worse, over the past five years, the value of these risky goods has risen by 22%. (World Vision)
• Over 150,000 Canadians have signed a petition calling the Government of Canada to act. Canadians can get involved by joining World Vision's No Child For Sale initiative.
