/R E P E A T -- Media advisory - Demonstration in Montréal and virtual press briefing by the FPPE-CSQ - 10 000 education professionals on strike Thursday/
MONTRÉAL, April 27, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - The 10 000 members of the unions affiliated with the Fédération des professionnelles et professionnels de l'éducation du Québec (FPPE-CSQ) will be on strike in the morning of Thursday, April 29, 2021 to express their profound dissatisfaction with the unacceptable offers made by the government at the negotiation table.
On this occasion, a demonstration – that will bring together a few hundred education professionals – will take place in Montréal. The demonstrators will meet at approximately 9 a.m. at Dorchester Square – 2903 Peel Street in Montréal. Jacques Landry, president of the FPPE-CSQ, and Sonia Ethier, president of the CSQ, will speak, followed by Rémi Gaulin, president of the Syndicat des professionnelles et professionnels du milieu de l'éducation de Montréal (SPPMEM-CSQ), Carolane Desmarais, president of the Syndicat des professionnelles et professionnels de l'Ouest de Montréal (SPPOM), Dominic Di Stefano, president of the Syndicat des professionnelles et professionnels de l'Ouest de Québec anglophone (SPPOQA-CSQ), and Guy Boivin, president of the Syndicat des professionnelles et professionnels de la Montérégie (SPPM-CSQ).
Please note that a virtual press conference will take place at 9:30 a.m. during which FPPE-CSQ president Jacques Landry and Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ) president Sonia Ethier will provide an update on the current negotiations. The results of a survey on the working conditions of Montréal education professionals will also be presented. Rémi Gaulin, president of the SPPMEM-CSQ, Carolane Desmarais, president of the SPPOM, and Dominic Di Stefano, president of the SPPOQA-CSQ, will also be present at the virtual briefing.
