MONTREAL, Oct. 19, 2023 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to attend a press conference during which major investments in the emerging technologies sector will be announced by the Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), and Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, Minister Responsible for Regional Economic Development and Minister Responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal Region.
The announcement will focus on the launch of a quantum communication test bed that will allow businesses and organizations to experiment with quantum technology–based systems and applications for telecom networks. The test bed will go live in Sherbrooke in October 2023, followed by Montréal and Québec City in early 2024. It will be available to test innovations aimed at strengthening the security of communications networks in response to such threats as an acceleration in quantum computing development.
