/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Minister Joly to Visit the Facilities of the Université de l'Ontario Français/ Français
History is being written as construction is underway on Ontario's first French-language university
TORONTO, Feb. 25, 2020 /CNW/ - The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages; the Honourable Caroline Mulroney, Ontario Minister of Francophone Affairs; the Honourable Ross Romano, Ontario Minister of Colleges and Universities; John Tory, Mayor of Toronto; and Dyane Adam, Chair of the Governing Council of the Université de l'Ontario français, will have the privilege of visiting the premises of the Université de l'Ontario français, currently under construction. It is set to receive its first students in the fall of 2021.
The university will become a flagship institution for Francophones and Francophiles in Ontario, making it possible for future generations to receive their education in French from elementary school to university.
By encouraging projects such as this, the Government of Canada is demonstrating its commitment to supporting official-language minority communities and ensuring the sustainability of Francophone culture and pride across the country.
The media are invited to take part in the visit. A media scrum will follow.
