OTTAWA, April 29, 2015 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will attend the funeral of the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, Speaker of the Senate. The service will take place at the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal, on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. Consequently, he will not be attending some of the events previously planned in Detroit, Michigan, as part of his visit to the Midwest of the United States of America (April 26-30). Below is the updated itinerary for Thursday, April 30.

Canada-U.S. Shiprider Program Event
His Excellency will meet with U.S. Coast Guard and RCMP officials to learn more about Shiprider, the Integrated Cross-Border Maritime Law Enforcement program in place on the Detroit River. Following a briefing, the Governor General will address members of the U.S. Coast Guard and of the RCMP before embarking on a patrol of the Detroit River, during which he will receive further details regarding the program.
