100 HALIFAX LEADERS TO BE EXILED TO HALIFAX CITADEL NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
CASTAWAYS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CHILDREN'S WISH
SYDNEY, NS, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - On Thursday, September 23, one of Halifax's most respected and successful business leaders, Colin MacDonald will be exiled to Halifax Citadel, along with 100 local business leaders to compete in Exile Island - Halifax in support of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada - Nova Scotia Chapter.
Exile Island's Chair, Colin MacDonald, Chairman Clearwater Seafoods, will lead his Palooka tribe in this unique fundraising adventure that pits some of Nova Scotia's top business leaders against each other in a fierce competition for bragging rights and a very good cause.
"Exile Island gives the leaders of our business community the opportunity to step outside the hustle and bustle of their daily lives so they can dedicate an afternoon to making come true the dreams of children who otherwise will never get to live their dreams," states MacDonald.
The day-long event features rival tribes competing in challenges testing their mental, creative and physical abilities. Armed with little more than Blackberrys, cell phones and their natural instincts to 'Outsmart, Outplay, Outpledge!', MacDonald and all the tribe members will raise funds to help grant wishes for local children diagnosed with life threatening illnesses by collecting pledges from friends, family and business associates.
Last year's Halifax Exile Island event raised over $408,000, enabling numerous children living with a life threatening illness the opportunity to receive their most heartfelt wish. The objective of this year's Exile Island event is to surpass last year's success and grant even more wishes.

ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S WISH FOUNDATION OF CANADA
Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to over 16,000 children and their families.
This year, the Foundation expects to grant 1,000 new wishes. The Foundation has never refused a wish to an eligible child, and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family.
