TORONTO, Sept. 8, 2016 /CNW/ - JA Canada, the largest provider of youth business education programs in Canada, is pleased to announce a generous sponsorship from Economical Insurance. The $100,000 contribution will enable JA Canada to reach more students through JA Canada's digital strategy — JA Excelerate — and deliver programs in the areas of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. This brings the total sponsorship funding from Economical to $500,000 since 2012.
JA Excelerate brings blended learning to classroom programs, the creation of an online management system to continue education outside of the classroom, and the launch of an online volunteer school and community school for volunteers.
"At Economical, supporting youth and their education is a priority for us," said Karen Gavan, President and CEO, Economical Insurance. "We are delighted to continue supporting JA in their efforts to reach more students with high-quality programming in the critical areas of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship."
Support from Economical also includes an ongoing commitment by employee volunteers to deliver programs in classrooms in select locations across Canada. Over the past two years, volunteers from Economical have delivered more than 550 hours of JA programming to Canadian students.
"We are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with Economical Insurance," said Scott Hillier, CEO and President, JA Canada. "We are especially grateful for the commitment of Economical employees who share their wealth of real world knowledge with students in classrooms from coast to coast."
