MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The 15th Golf Classic for the Fondation du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) took place yesterday in an atmosphere of celebration and firm commitment. The business community and members of the medical profession met together at the Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf Club to show their common support for the CHUM, a 15 year milestone for the tournament and a reminder of the soon-coming fulfillment of a grand dream: the welcoming, in 2016, of the first patients into facilities at the new CHUM. Thanks to the generosity of golfers, donors and sponsors, the Classic brought in a total profit of $1,125,000.
The Classic: 15 years of success for CHUM patients
"We are fortunate to be able to count without fail on the support of people and companies, all mobilized for the patients and staff at the CHUM. We are deeply grateful for their involvement and know that it makes a real difference. Through the years, many achievements have been made possible," declared Dr. Guy Leclerc, speaking on behalf of the Classic co-presidents Marie-Berthe Des Groseillers, Dr. Vincent Oliva and Dr. Luc Valiquette.
The Fondation, a crucial partner in this visionary health project
"To work together, innovate and most of all, take the necessary time to know our patients, to support them and find solutions that promote their well-being… This is the CHUM's and the Fondation's daily mission. As of next year, the new CHUM will welcome its first patients, and our talented teams will continue to provide quality and dignified care in this state-of-the-art environment. Thank you for making health a priority," underscored Fabrice Brunet, Chief Executive Officer of the CHUM and the CHU Sainte-Justine.
"Strengthened by the support of its donors, the Fondation pursues as never before its commitment to CHUM patients. At such a pivotal juncture in our course, this endorsement carries all the more importance," added Luce Moreau, Chief Executive Officer of the Fondation du CHUM. "We are proud to contribute together to assist our hospital staff in giving the best in health care," she concluded.
The Fondation expresses its warm thanks to the honorary co-presidents of the 15th Golf Classic, Marie-Berthe Des Groseillers, vice-president and head of operations for the BMTC Group and president of the Brault & Martineau Foundation, along with Dr. Guy Leclerc, cardiologist at the CHUM and president of AccelLAB, Dr. Vincent Oliva, head of the Department of radiology and nuclear medicine at the CHUM and Dr. Luc Valiquette, CHUM urologist and full professor in the Department of surgery at Université de Montréal. Special thanks, too, go to our sponsors of the day: Abbott Vascular, Brault & Martineau and the CHUM Cardiovascular Centre.
