120+ No Frills Workers Affected By Loblaw-Competition Bureau Consent Agreement
TORONTO, March 21, 2014 /CNW/ - More than 120 UFCW Canada Local 1000A members at No Frills stores in Elmira and Blenheim will be affected by the consent agreement between Loblaw Companies Limited and the Competition Bureau.
In a statement that was released today, the company indicated both stores will be divested.
"We stand shoulder to shoulder with our members and will be evaluating the effects of this announcement in the weeks and months to come," said Pearl Sawyer, President of UFCW Canada Local 1000A. "We will continue to ensure that the rights of our members are fully exercised under their union contract and the Ontario Labour Relations Act."
UFCW Canada Local 1000A representatives were at the stores today for the announcement and in support of the members affected.
UFCW Canada Local 1000A has nearly 30,000 members across Ontario working in various sectors of the economy.
