12th annual Printemps du MAC: ELO LEO, a spectacular event benefitting the Foundation of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal Français
MONTRÉAL, March 15, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) is the place to be this coming Friday, April 13, from 9 p.m. on, when it holds the 12th edition of the famous Printemps du MAC event. The exceptional event, inspired by this year's theme ELO LEO, will offer a nod to Leonard Cohen with a geometric take on the Beat culture, and will take place in a museum that has been utterly transformed for the occasion. All proceeds from the evening will go to the Musée Foundation, whose mission is to support the MAC in its various areas of activity: building the collection, producing exhibitions, promoting contemporary art and offering educational programs.
This essential event on Montréal's spring social calendar is well known for its inventive celebratory style, its eye-popping themes, its trendy attendees and its avant-garde taste. This year, the event will once again welcome more than 1,000 young professionals to an exclusive cocktail reception where all present will be invited to share in cultural and gastronomic discovery. Throughout the evening, participants will be able to groove to the music of DJ Thomas H, bid on various prizes offered in the silent auction and enjoy a very special opportunity to visit the Musée's exhibitions in a unique, elegant and festive atmosphere.
"What makes this event unlike any other fundraiser is its twofold mission: raise money to support the MAC's activities and expose young professionals to contemporary art by having them spend an evening at the Musée," explains Alexandra Mohsen (SSENCE), Co-chair of the Printemps du MAC Organizing Committee. "It's much more than a party. The Committee plans the artistic side of the evening for months to put on an event like no other, year after year."
"Springtime in Montréal always has a special vibe, and this festive, happy and electric evening captures that feeling perfectly. It's a terrific event to organize, and it supports a vital cause: the Foundation of the MAC. Being a part of it is a very hands-on way to support the Foundation and, in so doing, remind people of the importance of contemporary art in the affirmation and development of our culture and its immeasurable value to our society," says Stefanie Stergiotis (Transat A.T.), Co-chair of the Printemps du MAC Organizing Committee.
ELO LEO: A timeless soirée enlivened by beatnik sounds and geometric designs
Created by La Maison W, in collaboration with the Printemps du MAC Organizing Committee, the evening theme is a phonetic salute to Leonard Cohen's work and will cap the Leonard Cohen – Une brèche en toute chose / A Crack in Everything exhibition in memorable fashion.
The theme is also inspired by the beatnik movement. "This period is synonymous with freedom and rebirth, just like spring. So we took this artistic movement and added a touch of modern. As soon as guests arrive, they will be immersed in a monochromatic graphic universe, where shapes, lines, curves and crosshatching will create a hypnotic effect," explains Nikolaos Lerakis, Managing Director at La Maison W Montréal.
