MONTREAL, Dec. 13, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - As of the evening of December 13th, the Guignolée du Dr Julien's has raised $ 842 000. At the same time last year, $ 830 000 was collected. This had been a 66 % increase over 2012. Despite the difficult economic context, this year's increase is both unexpected and a heartfelt popular support to the cause of vulnerable children.
« Adding to this successful fundraising, what makes us most happy is the renewed popular support from year to year. This is like an annual 'report card' that proves to us how much the population is supporting our work with vulnerable children. Let's keep giving to help us reach as many children as possible and help them develop to their full potential as this is their most basic right », declared Dr. Gilles Julien, Founder and President of the Fondation du Dr Julien.
The Fondation du Dr Julien would especially like to thank its 550 volunteers that have contributed to the Guignolée as well as all its partners, both event spokespersons, Ève Christian and Christian Bégin, and finally the whole Samedi et Rien d'Autre team, a radio show hosted by Joël Le Bigot and broadcasted on ICI Radio-Canada's Première, as well as to the host Jean-Charles Lajoie and his Radio 9 team.
The Fondation du Dr Julien still needs new toys for boys, and gifts for children aged 6 to 10 and for teenagers. Donations received will enable more than 1200 kids to receive a Christmas gift and bring Holiday spirit to their families.
The Guignolée du Dr Julien continues until January 15th, 2015.
We encourage the population to keep giving until January 15th 2015 for this 12th edition of the Guignolée du Dr Julien.

December 13th, Community Social Pediatrics Movement Day
December 13th also marked Community Social Pediatrics Movement Day. On this occasion, community social pediatrics centers located elsewhere in Montréal (South-Center, Montréal-North, Saint-Laurent, and Verdun) and in the province (Cowansville, Gatineau, Laval, Lévis, Québec, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Trois-Rivières) held their annual Guignolée on the same date. As every center is self-financed, locally collected funds will be used to support services provided to vulnerable children and families in their own communities.
About the Guignolée du Dr Julien
The Guignolée du Dr Julien collects donations for the Fondation du Dr Julien, a non-profit helping more than 2000 kids and their families each year through its two Community Social Pediatrics centers as well as its Garage à musique. Services provided include medical, psychosocial, psycho-educational or educational intervention, innovative therapies (art therapy, ergotherapy, music therapy), adapted services (orthophony, psychology, pedopsychiatry and neuropsychology), and various other sport and cultural activities (summer camps, music courses, theatre, shows, etc.). Funds raised will also enable the Fondation to accompany community social pediatrics emerging elsewhere in Quebec. www.guignoleedrjulien.org / www.fondationdrjulien.org
