The 14th Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF), presented by Quebecor and created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, will be held from September 25 to 30, 2018
MONTREAL, Sept. 6, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Montreal International Black Film Festival team (MIBFF), presented by Quebecor, has unveiled the programming for its 14th year, with 72 films from 25 countries to inspire you to see the world differently and take action! #MIBFF18 returns with a strong, diverse, and bold programming which highlights the tales and events that have challenged conventions, left a distinctive mark on our times, and changed how we see the world.
Jamie Jones' Obey will kick off the festival as a Canadian Premiere on September 25 at 7pm at Imperial Cinema and the Quebec Premiere of Dead Women Walking by Hagar Ben-Asher will round off the 2018 MIBFF on September 30 at 7pm at Imperial Cinema. Tickets are on sale on the Festival's website.
MIBFF is thrilled to welcome back Spike Lee for the 3rd time as an honorary guest; this time for an intimate conversation where festivalgoers get to hear the Academy Award winning director discuss his journey as a filmmaker as well as his views on today's socio-economic environment. This will be Spike Lee's first return in Canada since he won the Grand Prix du Jury at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for his latest film Blackkklansman. Presented by Quebecor and Global News on September 26, 7pm at Imperial Cinema 7PM: VIP Meet & Greet - Cocktail | 8PM: Conference. $30 (Gen. Admission) | $150 (VIP). The program also features 72 films from 25 countries among which some are world, international, North American, Canadian or Quebec premieres; the MIBFF Black Market space dedicated to the cinema industry and introducing the first MIBFF Kids Program.
