$15 Million Class Lawsuit Launched In Ontario Superior Court

TORONTO, May 19, 2016 /CNW/ - A class action lawsuit seeking $15 million in damages has been launched in Ontario Superior Court of Justice on behalf of patients of Ottawa-based Dr. Pierre Dupont, his clinic, operating as Ottawa Foot Practice Inc., and the College of Chiropodists of Ontario by law firm Thomson, Rogers.

The Statement of Claim alleges that Dr. Dupont recommended a stent procedure to Class Members to correct foot ailments, including "flat footedness."

The Claim alleges Dr. Dupont recommended the stent procedure to his patients, including the Plaintiff who is an 11 year old boy represented by his mother in the litigation, when it was unsafe and inappropriate to do so. The Claim further alleges that Dr. Dupont used an unapproved stent, which he developed, manufactured and profited from the sale of.

The Claim alleges that the College of Chiropodists of Ontario granted Dr. Dupont a certificate of Registration to practice as a Chiropodist in Ontario when it was against its own policies to do so because of Dr. Dupont's past lifetime suspension as a dentist in the Province of Quebec due to alleged misconduct.
