150 new jobs expected - Alphanumeric Systems opens global, multilingual clinical-application service desk in Greater Montréal Français
MONTREAL, Sept. 12, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - U.S.-based Alphanumeric Systems, Inc.—a world-class information technology and learning services provider—today announced the opening of its new offices in Greater Montréal, which includes a global, multilingual clinical-application service desk, technical application support, as well as an administrative unit.
The company, which has been established in North Carolina for over three decades, is now hiring 50 full-time workers in the Montréal region and plans to triple its staff in the next 12 months by providing tailored services to its North American customer base and new client acquisition.
"Alphanumeric Systems is undergoing strong growth and the timing couldn't be better for us to expand into Canada now," said Alphanumeric Systems CEO Karen T. Braswell. "We are also excited to do our part to contribute to a robust local economy by hiring employees already established in the Greater Montréal area."
According to Linda Herndon, Vice President Global Learning & Strategic Outsourcing at Alphanumeric, the new Montréal subsidiary will allow the company to enhance its service offering and thus improve its business continuity solutions. "Montréal is a great fit for our growth plans and a springboard to diversify our services and allow our customers to be even more productive. The Montréal area, with its strong university community, also offers access to a large number of qualified resources—a key component to developing and bolstering our presence in Canada."
Ms. Braswell also extended her thanks to the stakeholders that supported Alphanumeric and helped bring its project to fruition. "We received tremendous help from the Consulate General of Canada in Atlanta, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, and Montréal International (MI). This wouldn't have happened without their support."
"Subsidiaries of foreign companies, such as Alphanumeric Systems, are an invaluable source of wealth for Greater Montréal as they account for 9% of the total jobs in the region and 20% of the GDP. In return, the metropolis provides a number of advantages to these companies, including a highly qualified and multilingual workforce, competitive operating costs and successful high-technology sectors," said Jacques St-Laurent, President and CEO of Montréal International. "MI will continue to support Alphanumeric Systems so that it can develop its business offering and expand further in the region."
The expansion into Canada follows Alphanumeric's first foray out of the United States—the 2010 establishment of a division in the United Kingdom.
