MONTREAL, May 21, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of the 16th Great Gardening Weekend being held at the Montréal Botanical Garden on May 24, 25 and 26, the Montréal Space for Life is launching its brand new My Space for Life Garden program and is inviting people to create a biodiverse space in their gardens. Program participants can choose from three garden themes and enjoy a variety of tips on site to help create, transform and maintain their green space, and even get their gardens certified by the end of the summer. Get tons of ideas to create a garden that fits your image at the Great Gardening Weekend, and make sure to check out the My Space for Life Garden kiosk to learn all there is to know about this new program and join in the movement!
Inviting nature into my place? . . . Why not?
The My Space for Life Garden program offers three types of gardens: the Biodiversity Garden, promoting Québec-native plants and banishing the use of all pesticides and chemical fertilizers; the Bird Garden, which is sure to attract birds by providing them with a place to feed and find shelter; and the Monarch Oasis, an inviting place for these flamboyant Lepidoptera. With this program, you'll learn how to grow plants on your balcony or a wall of your house and create a garden. Make a concrete action for biodiversity, improve your neighbourhood's quality of life and inspire other gardening enthusiasts to join in the movement!

The Great Gardening Weekend: A beautifully landscaped event!
Come meet one hundred or so gardening and landscaping specialists and discuss roses, bonsai and hemerocallis with experts. Get some beautiful annuals and perennials and chat with their producers, and stop by the Botanical Garden kiosk, which features some 12,000 plants produced by our horticulturists. Take a break and check out one of the talks (growing grape vines, growing mushrooms, extreme horticulture, etc.) and demonstrations (potting, four season gardens, fauna and flora, edible landscaping, tropical plants) hosted by celebrities of the horticultural world. IMPORTANT
As was the case in the past, the Botanical Garden and Insectarium will not take part in the Montréal Museums Day, which takes place at the same time as the Great Gardening Weekend.
The Great Gardening Weekend is presented by Premier Tech and organized in collaboration with the Amis du Jardin botanique de Montréal. Thank you to Fleurs, Plantes et Jardins. The My Space for Life Garden program was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Verdir campaign by the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ) and the Secrétariat à la région métropolitaine. |
