17th Quebec Police Awards gala honours 27 top cops and 2 civilians Français

MONTREAL, Nov. 19, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Twenty nine Quebec Police Awards recipients -- including a team of Sûreté du Québec officers who investigated the financial discrepancies that led to charges of fraud and breach of trust against former Quebec lieutenant-governor Lise Thibault -- will be honoured today during the 17th annual Quebec Police Awards gala, held at the Marriott Château Champlain in Montreal.
The gala, hosted by Gino Paré -- an SQ officer and a 2004 Quebec Police Award winner -- is expected to be attended by about 250 guests from the province's police, political and business communities. Of the 29 winners, 27 are frontline police officers and two are civilians who work with police.
Members of the Quebec Police Awards gala's Board of Governance will be outlining the exceptional work of all police officers throughout the province, emphasizing particular acts of bravery and dedication to duty. Winners at this year's gala will receive a crystal, which salutes courage, team spirit, perseverance and dedication to the community.
The gala will get under way at noon with various speeches, and the awards presentation will begin at 12:50 p.m.

Quebec Police Awards Board of Governance
The Quebec Police Awards gala is presided by the Board of Governance whose mandate is to examine all of the candidacies submitted, regardless of the origins of the policing organization.
A $5,000 donation to the Fondation du Dr. Julien
Proceeds from the Quebec Police Awards gala will be presented by the Quebec Provincial Police Association's benevolent fund and by the Quebec Mounted Police Members' Association to the Fondation du Dr. Julien, a Montreal organization that assists socially and economically challenged children, and helps them to develop their full potential. The foundation also supports the development of social pediatrics in communities that need it most, and where children can best benefit.
